Vision Ears VE7 : A Theatrical experience!!

Vision Ears is a German company based in the city of Luxemburgerstrasse in Cologne's central south. Vision Ears is a highly respectable name among music experts and professional circles all around the world. They took the audiophile community by storm with the launch of their first IEM VE6X back in 2014. All the IEMs in their portfolio are carefully crafted musical powerhouses giving an unparalleled listening experience.

Since 2020, VE series of Vision Ears is available in both custom and Universal versions. Customizing one's IEM is a different game all together. One gets to choose the color of shell, faceplate , Logo color, Wire, almost everything for their IEM. You can curate every aspect of the IEM, making it your precious little possession with your signature taste. For those who do not wish to go through the process of customizing their IEM , Universal VE lineup is the option to go.

The universal version of VE7 has a stunning look. It has a transparent sapphire blue shell, boastfully displaying all the inner contents : BA drivers , wires, acoustic design. The 'Fire blaze' faceplate has a flashy look with a sparkle of red, yellow and blue creating a hypnotic 3D pattern over which the logo of VE7 stands out beautifully in silver color. The combination of blue shell and alluring of faceplate awards the earpiece with a funky appearance. It's a designing masterpiece which mesmerizes you as soon as you lay your eyes on them and so lightweight and comfortable that even for long duration no hot spots develop in the ears. The nozzle is not designed for deep insertion, and as per my personal preference I really loved the form factor and the overall design of the IEM.

VE7 contains seven BA drivers in each earpiece with five-way-system with a sensitivity and impedance of 116dB SPL and 12ohm respectively at 1mW. The driver configuration is:
2 x Bass Drivers, 2 x Low Mids, 1 x Mid, 1 x Mid High and 1 x Super High

The stock cable is 4 twisted OFC braided and astoundingly light just as the earpiece. It comes with a standard 0.78mm 2pin connector and a 3.5mm single ended TRS plug. The unit I received as a part of review circle also came with spinfit eartips and a nice and spacious carry case.

Disclaimer:
I have received  as part of review circle sent from the brand itself in exchange of honest reviews. All impressions of sound are subjective to my own listening and my sources and is based on my experience with IEMs of similar hardware configurations and price range.

Sources:
For this review the unit has been paired to A&K SE100 (ES9038 Pro) and Shanling M6 (AK4495EQ) without any other amplification.

Pros:
  • Flat and neutral sound signature
  • Very good tonality and harmonics
  • Organic and melodious with very rich musical timber
  • Amazing soundstage width/height and transitional capabilities
  • Good quality sub-bass and mid-bass presentation
  • Light weight and very comfortable with very good Build Quality

Cons:
  • Bass quantity can sound bit shy as of full BA setup
  • Stock wire does not compliment the premium form factor aesthetically

Highs:
The treble is the most amazing and engaging part of VE7, it is very well extended and have a very nice presence factor with lots of air. The treble is sharp and very much focused. There is fine detail in each and every high note produced by the IEM and never at any point gets shouty or sibilant. In my personal preference I would say that VE7 has managed to hit the "perfect" spot in terms of treble response. Cymbals sounds very realistic with a very beautiful, lively and elegant tonality. The high notes of flutes, violins and trumpets sound very delicious and full of emotions. Listening to "Guns N' Roses - November Rain" was an out of world experience where all the instruments come up with nice crisp resolution and a the overall experience was pure bliss and so much intimating. The electric guitars, flutes, violins, upper notes of piano, rest all bells and whistles came out in a very lively manner full of so much air around them giving lot of chills at various parts of the track.

Mids:
My favorite aspect on the VE7 is definitely the production of mid-range. The resolution is fantastic and the overall result is a very organic sound with amazing timber. I would not say that the notes are thick nor are thing but are very lively and natural. All the instruments and vocals sound very clean and crisp. There is good amount of air in the mid-range as well. The tuning of mids is very coherent among all the different drivers that not at any single point it sound imbalanced.
The upper mids sound very linearly elevated adding to the presence and lively factor of the sound signature and are very much resolving and detailed. On the other hand the lower mids are neutral with a slight touch of natural warmth. Listening to "Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton or Rebecca Pidgeon's Spanish Harlem" both male and female vocals sounded angelic with each instrument and chorus crisp and clear. "Somethin' Stupid by Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman" sounded so much intimate and immersive that I got totally lost in it for quite some time while the track looped in 3-4 times.

Lows:
The sub bass is really very much splendid and very nice definition for an all BA IEM. The sub bass rumble is very much present without any struggle and creates a very enjoyable and groovy atmosphere around it. The sub bass has a linear transition to the mid bass and the harmonics are extremely good. When the base hits it's not just the punch that is felt but also the enclosure of the sub bass rumbles that is very much interesting and intriguing and creates a vivid presentation. The decay in mid bass is fast and irrespective of what track has been thrown at it, it never sounds congested or muddy at point of time. Only downside one can feel is that the quantity of bass not much so for bass-heads this IEM can sound little boring in that aspect but apart from that it excels very much in terms of definition and texture. I have tried VE7 on various tracks in POP and EDM genre and to me if we consider the pure BA bass then it worked perfectly, but where it shined the best is on orchestral and classical rock genres.

Technicalities:
The detailing is amazing on VE7, one can hear each and every note with fine transparency and depth. VE7 has a very good sense of space and sounds very much immersive and bigger. The soundstage is very wide and has above average verticality. The width felt bit larger than height creating an oval space around the headroom. The depth sense is astonishing. The separation and position of instruments are just too good that all instruments conveys their own pace with overlapping at any point of time even in very busy tracks. One can easily pin point the location of different instruments while listening to orchestral music. I wonder why VE has not added any vents on the body of the IEM but yes even for a closed IEM the soundstage and separation is amazing. The layering and micro detailing is also astonishing on it and compliments the overall harmonics. Be it "City of Jerusalem from Assassin's creed OST" or any "Symphony Masterpiece from Mozart of Beethoven" , VE7 performed fantastically in terms of its technicalities.

Final Verdict:

VE7 is a very comfortable flat and neutral sounding IEM but that does not means it is boring, it is very much musical in nature with an excellent balanced tonality and lot of harmonics. The mid-range is organic and transparent with amazing timber and sound lively and natural. The treble is clean and well extended with so much air that it sound "perfect" in my personal preference. The detailing and resolution is top notch. The bass nature is more suited to classical, Jazz  and vocal oriented music and it sounds exceptional on it with complimenting soundstage and separation depth, so if you are into such kind of music then I would say that VE7 can totally be an END GAME IEM for you.

High Level Comparison VE7 vs VE8:
VE7 is a flat and neutral sounding IEM so one tends to enjoy all layers of music and is very versatile for orchestral and instrumental type of music whereas on the other hand VE8 has warm, musical tonality that lets you enjoy music as a whole piece which gives a very intimate feel and is ideal for Pop, R&B, Hip Hop and EDM signatures. One can say that VE7 is meant to be used as analytical whereas VE8 is a fun IEM.
